Bathrooms and kitchens are the two rooms where most people give up on art. Paper prints ripple, canvas can sag and frames trap moisture behind the glass. Metal prints are one of the few options that handle everyday humidity well, as long as you place them sensibly. Here is how to choose, place and care for metal wall art in the steamiest rooms of the house.
Why metal works in humid rooms
ZEYRO prints are made by infusing the image into a coated aluminum panel with dye sublimation. That gives three advantages in a bathroom or kitchen:
- No warping. Aluminum does not absorb moisture, so the panel stays flat when the room fills with steam.
- No glass, no frame. There is nowhere for condensation to collect and nothing to fog up.
- Easy cleaning. Splashes of cooking oil or toothpaste wipe off with a damp microfiber cloth.

Humid is fine, wet is not
Our prints are made for indoor use. Humidity in the air is not a problem, but direct water and heat are. Follow these simple rules:
- Keep prints out of the shower area and away from spray from taps or the bathtub.
- Do not hang art directly above a stove, kettle or other heat source, where steam and grease hit it directly.
- Run the fan or open a window after a shower so the room dries between uses.
- Avoid outdoor walls, including covered patios, and spots that get strong direct sun for long hours.
Our care guide covers cleaning and placement in more detail, and our warranty applies under normal indoor use.
Where to hang art in a bathroom
- Above the toilet: the classic spot. A single 12 x 18 or 16 x 24 inch print in portrait fills it nicely.
- Beside the vanity: a narrow wall next to the mirror suits an 8 x 12 or 12 x 18 inch piece.
- Opposite the bathtub: a calm landscape or seascape makes a relaxing view, as long as it is well clear of splashes.
Soft botanicals, ocean scenes and calm nature and landscape prints are popular choices because they echo water and greenery. For a warmer spa feel, our bohemian collection brings terracotta and sage tones.
Where to hang art in a kitchen
- Breakfast nook or dining corner: the best spot for a larger piece, such as 16 x 24 or 20 x 30 inches.
- Open shelving: lean an 8 x 12 inch print against the wall between plates and plants.
- End of the cabinets: the narrow wall at the end of a run of cabinets is perfect for a tall portrait print.
Keep art at least an arm’s length from the cooktop and sink. Bright food and drink photos, bold abstracts or a favourite family photo all work well. You can print your own photo on the Create Your Art page.
Choosing the right size
Bathrooms and kitchens usually have small, broken-up walls, so smaller formats are the safe bet:
| Spot | Suggested size |
|---|---|
| Beside a mirror or window | 8 x 12 in |
| Above the toilet | 12 x 18 or 16 x 24 in |
| Kitchen nook or dining wall | 16 x 24 or 20 x 30 in |
| Open shelf | 8 x 12 in, leaning |

Hanging and cleaning
Metal prints are light, so a single picture hook or a screw with an anchor is usually enough. On tile, drill through a grout line with the right bit. Our guide on how to hang metal wall art walks through each wall type. To clean, wipe with a soft cloth lightly dampened with water, or spray a mild, ammonia-free glass cleaner onto the cloth, never directly onto the print.
Frequently asked questions
Can you put metal wall art in a bathroom?
Yes. Aluminum does not warp or absorb humidity, so metal prints handle a steamy bathroom well. Keep them out of the shower area and away from direct splashes.
Is metal wall art waterproof?
Metal prints resist humidity, but they are made for indoor use and should not be exposed to direct water, rain or steam from a stove.
Can I hang metal art outdoors or on a patio?
We do not recommend it. ZEYRO prints are designed for indoor walls, and outdoor use is not covered by our warranty.
What size art works best in a small bathroom?
An 8 x 12 or 12 x 18 inch print fits most bathroom walls. Use 16 x 24 inches above the toilet or on a larger wall.
